17th May 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a busy week it has been at Saltaire Primary School - from Key Stage assessments to family days and residential visits to York. It's all been going on.

Year 6 Key Stage Assessments

Well done to all of our Year 6 children for their effort and concentration throughout this week's Key Stage assessments. Every single one of them has turned up on time with lots of energy and enthusiasm to get them through the week. We couldn't be more proud of them. They have earned their exciting weekend in Robinwood. The whole school cheered and waved them off as they set off this morning.

Year 4 Residential to York

Our Year 4 children have enjoyed a wonderful residential visit to York where they visited Murton Park and York Museum to learn more about the Romans and their time in Britain. The children were great representatives of our school and each class had a brilliant time staying at the Youth Hostel. We know they'll remember their experience for years to come. Many thanks to Miss Jacklin and Mrs Noble for their great organisation and to all staff who accompanied the children to help keep them safe and happy throughout.

Reception Family Days

Many thanks to all parents who joined us for the Reception family days on Thursday and Friday this week. It was wonderful to see you all here, building dens on our field. The children loved showing their parents all of the fun things they get up to at school.

Wraparound Care

We have now had confirmation that our lower 'terrapin' building, at the top of the playground, is set to be demolished. I want to reassure all parents that our wraparound care offer is unaffected and Saltaire Primary School will continue to provide before and after school care without interruption. Until further notice, this will take place in the school hall and I will keep you updated with any changes. I can safely say that regardless of location, you will not need to find alternative childcare. I will write soon with further information about next steps in the near future.

Parent Forums

A reminder that our next parent forums will take place at 9:00am and 2:40pm on Tuesday 21st May. We will be discussing what we can do as a school and parents to protect our children's health from local air pollution. Saltaire Primary School is sited near a very busy main road which has been identified by Bradford Council as having high levels of air pollution.

We will hear from Dr Anna Watson, one of our school governors and a convenor of Clean Air Bradford about the problem and we want to hear your views on what actions we can all take to tackle this problem.

Tea, coffee and cakes will be provided.

I hope you all have a restful weekend and the sun continues to shine.

Kind regards,

Mr Rob Whitehead
