School News 7th June 2019

Welcome back to another very exciting term at Saltaire Primary School. I hope the children had a good holiday and feel ready for the weeks ahead. There is a list of important dates listed here on the news section for your reference.

I hope all of our children and families who celebrated Eid this week had a wonderful time. It was so good to hear about this special time from the children when they returned to school today.

Grandparent’s Games Afternoon

It was wonderful to welcome some of our grandparents this week to join us for an afternoon of beatle drive, dominoes and a variety of other traditional games. Thankyou to Mrs Patterson and Mrs Matthews for organising such a brilliant event.

Sports Day

Our sports day takes place on Wednesday next week. Children will take part along with other children from their school house. We are asking children to come along dressed in the colours of their house. If you are not sure which house your child is in, please speak to your class teacher to confirm this. Fingers crossed for a dry and sunny day on Wednesday.

50 Things To Do Before You’re 5

On 17th June at 3:00pm we will be holding a launch event for this fantastic initiative which provides parents with lots of great ideas for activities to do with their young children. The great thing is that all of the activities are fun for all of the family. Do join us at the launch which will take place at Hirst Wood Nursery School.

Wraparound Care

We are now starting to organise our before and after school care for the new school year. If you would like any further information about this, please speak to the office about how you can secure places for your children.

Summer Clubs

This summer our school building will be having a complete electrical rewire. This means that the school site will be closed throughout the summer holidays. As a result of this, we will not be able to accommodate any summer clubs on school premises. We hope that we will be able to offer further clubs by summer 2020.

Mobile Phones

I know that many children in Year 5 and Year 6 may now have mobile phones and recognise that this is a good way to keep in touch with your children, particularly if they walk home by themselves. We ask that all children switch their phones off before they enter the school grounds in the morning. It would be much appreciated if you could remind your children about this.

I hope you all have a super weekend. See you on Monday.
