3rd May 2019

Welcome back to the summer term at Saltaire Primary School. I hope all of our children and families had an enjoyable and restful holiday and made the most of the fantastic, summery weather. We have lots of exciting and enjoyable plans for this term ahead and we look forward to sharing them with our children over the coming weeks and months.

Welcome to Miss Scarth

Welcome to Miss Scarth, our new business manager, who joined our school on Monday. We wish her every success as she begins her own learning journey here at Saltaire Primary School.

Miss Walton

On Thursday, Miss Walton came back to school to visit children and staff with her new daughter. The children were delighted to meet the new addition to Miss Walton’s family. Mother, father and baby are all doing really well and Miss Walton is thoroughly enjoying being a new mum. She will return to work in 2020 and I hope she has a fantastic time during her maternity leave.

Food tasting session

On Friday 10th May, the school kitchen will be providing a tasting session for parents from 2:45pm in the main hall. The school lunch menu has recently been updated and I have been working hard with catering services to try to ensure that the range and quality of food being served is of a consistently high standard. I think the children have been enjoying lunches more recently but do come along on the 10th if you would like to sample a selection of the food on offer this term. If you would like to join us, please let the office know so that we have an idea about the number of servings required.

Parent forum – clean air

At our next Parent's Forum we will be discussing what we can do as a school and parents to protect our children's health from local air pollution. Saltaire Primary School is sited near a very busy main road which has been identified by Bradford Council as having high levels of air pollution.

We will hear from Dr Anna Watson, one of our school governors and a convenor of Clean Air Bradford about the problem and we want to hear your views on what actions we can all take to tackle this problem.

Teas, coffees and cakes will be provided.

Photographs

The school photographer will be in to take class photographs on Thursday 23rd May. We would ask all children to come to school in their regular uniform on that day. If they have PE on that day and need to wear their school PE kit, they are welcome to bring it with them and we can arrange for the children to get changed.

Our Resident Artist, Sharon, makes the big screen

If you happen to be passing City Park in Bradford over the next few weeks, make sure you take a look at the big screen. Our resident artist, Sharon Snaylam, is having some of her work shown, along with other local artists as part of the ‘Not Just Hockney’ exhibition. We are really proud to have such a brilliant artist here working with our children.
